A lot of work goes on behind the scenes year round to make a successful Buckwheat Festival. In 2015 the Festival will take place Thursday, September 24th through Sunday, September 27th. Thousands of people come to Kingwood during the Festival to enjoy the delicious Buckwheat Cakes and Sausage Dinners. The dining room committee is looking for organizations to work in the kitchens.
This is a great fundraising opportunity for groups such as churches, bands, 4-H clubs, civic organizations and others. Groups earn $1.25 per plate for each dinner served in their kitchen. Each kitchen can make $1,200 - $1,500 depending on the number of people served. Approximately 30 people are needed to work a kitchen from 7:15 am to 10:00 pm; your organization could join with another one to staff the kitchen. Duties to be performed include: frying sausage, making buckwheat cakes, taking tickets, serving dinners, waiting and clearing tables, cleaning up areas at the end of the day and other miscellaneous duties. Information and instructions are given about what needs to be done. Kitchens are available on Friday, September 25th. If you would like to sign up your group to work a kitchen, or if you would like further information about this great fundraising opportunity, contact Chip Royce, Kitchen & Dining Room Chairman at 304.216.5036 or firstname.lastname@example.org
